Introductory Classes
|
Introductory Classes are designed to introduce the Iyengar method
of Yoga to students new to Yoga or new to the Iyengar method. These
classes emphasize standing postures. They include beginning seated
and forward bending postures followed by passive supported postures.
The practices of Yoga, like any subject, should be learned systematically.
Training the physical body, senses of perception, the mind, and
the consciousness are approached in a practical manner that begins
with the standing postures. Beginners should start with these as
they bring elasticity to the body and build stamina and physical
steadiness. These constitute the most basic training in the earliest
stages of learning Yoga. In addition, as the student progresses,
other types of postures including forward bending, twists, seated
and inverted are introduced.
These classes are also suitable for those who previously attended
an introductory series at the Center and wish to begin again.
Please bring to class: shorts and a t-shirt. Have an empty stomach.
